Hello everyone, I'm not sure if I'm ready to sell my script or not. I've read some books concerning Hollywood business. I was surfacing net when I found http://www.soyouwannasellascript.com
Does anyone know this website services esp. Script Express service is worth paying? I just have never read about this kind of selling in any book. Thank you Wink

I haven't heard anything about this, but I'm going to look into it and try to get back to you.  With any of these "services" I alway ask myself -- "Who is the expert reading my script".  That said, there are some great "script readers/doctors" out there for a fee.  I for one would probably go with a more recognizable company if you are interested in obtaining a coverage.  I did see this site has a script marketplace and a script express (that you asked about).  I think they are both interesting notions...but I for one have no feedback, negative or positive, to offer you.  Hopefully some of our other members have some experience to offer.  I would say try to do some research and I will try to do the same before you spend any of your hard earned money.

Thanks, caissiela. At least after such a long while someone answered me. I thought no one log in this forum at all. I would be thankful if anyone who knew anything about my last question or knew any site that gives the same services, inform me.

There are no real "services" that will help you sell a script.  I think those type of businesses are scams.

I think you shouldn't be so disappointed but just careful. I found http://www.scriptshark.com/ which has proved to be a real reliable source for getting yourself noticed. Syd Field has recommended it to both amateurs and professionals. I think it's a good place for you if you have a good script. Cheesy

Scriptshark does have some positive feedback...which a good thing!  As for my research on soyouwantosell--, I went to some of the message boards to see some dates and it seems they've been around since 03.  Now, you can read into that as a good thing: they're still around and there's no buzz (that I'm aware of anyway) that they are a scam or as a bad thing: that they've been around that long and there's no buzz (that I'm aware of anyway) that they are any good.  I personally wouldn't use them for coverage as I have stated before that there are a lot more well known services for that, but as for the express service...I would keep looking to see if there are other more known companies that offer the service.  All it entails is a blast email to a set of email addresses.  The good thing about this is that they have already loaded all of the emails to established industry people (or so they say), but the bad thing is that you really have no idea who is getting your email at the company, does that email address work, are they really sending out emails at all.

That said, I was talking with my writing partner the other day about this service and we both agree...weigh the option against what you are currently doing for your career.  If you are sending out hundreds of query letters by hand and getting some feedback then you might not need this.  If you are doing next to nothing and waiting for hollywood to knock on your door...perhaps spending under one hundred dollars for "your career" might be a smart investment.  I still say look to see if others offer a similiar service before making a choice, but although money is tight for everyone, you have to ask yourself how much money you would invest in a career if you wanted to be say a doctor.  Years and years of college, interning, etc.  If you really want to make this a career, then you have to spend time (and sometimes money) if it's a smart investment fo you.

Hope that helps.  Oh, and sorry for the delay on getting back to you.  The site has slowed as far as member usage since we started, but like any site there will be ups and downs on postings.  If you find that no one is responding to your question, find a similar posting and reply to it...an email will be sent to the original poster so they will know you wrote something.  New threads may take longer for people to log on and see.  (August is a slow month in the film industry...almost everyone takes the entire month off)

Thank you Caissiela for your deep research and long answer. I appreciate it. I may use Scriptshark services but for now I'm about to participate in a contest. After that I'll have plans for selling my script.

I used soyouwannasellascript several times. There is a lady, unfortunately I don't remember her name, very good in making loglines and short synopsis. I used script express several times and I had a very good response, I sent out sometimes 20 scripts in a week. I still use their logline and synopsis picthing my scripts and they are good.

Thank you for your replies. I have bought their script marketplace which is a listing. And also hollywood bugle which is a publication. I haven't bought the script express yet. Maybe later. For now I'm looking forward to my chances in the above services.

Anybody please look at my new topic: Think Hollywood or Entertainment Research Institute

That's important for me. Thank you.
