I have a dilema, I have a script that I think is great (who doesn't). I want someone to read it and I know how hard that is, any advice on what my best options are, I know screenplay contests are one option ant recomendations on which ones or any other way?

Virginia is quite a distance from L.A. but your actually at an advantage. Being so far you have the opportunity to shut out all the fame, glitz, and glamor that clouds my mind living about a mile out of Hollywood. But to answer your question, we live in the 21st century and assuming you have internet access there are many literary agencies that you could research on the internet and e-mail query letters (summary/plot/title) and see which one replies. Of course this may take some time considering that some agencies don't read unsolicited material meaning you have to already have an agent. I HONESTLY believe that if you are determined you'll find some. Just be positive that once you actually send your query letters you actually have a very solid script ready to e-mail or Fed-ex. I find I spend more time looking for people to read my script than actually writing it, so please do yourself a favor work on your script for as long as possible, make sure the format is at the industry standard. Some tips I would advise are letting some friends and family read what you wrote as well as putting away your script for about three weeks to allow the cloud of confidence to float away, which is a must because I find that when I am really happy with my script it needs more work. But as you said before script contests are actually a very good way to get noticed because even if you don't win but place in like the top ten, you are flown into Hollywood and introduced to agents, studio execs etc. So I would not underestimate the power of the screenwriters contests. Also this may or may not apply to you but if you have any relatives in L.A. you could come visit during the pitchfests, and pitch you screenplay to some major execs, so lookup pitchfests on the internet.
